Harry kept a daily record of his activities as a member of its renowned band from January 1 to March 22, 1916, and subsequently served overseas for the war's duration.

Paraded to Park church in morning. Went down to Strand in afternoon with A. Myers to hear orchastra [sic] pratice [sic]. Then out to Arta’s [sic] for supper. Very stormy and cold all day.
